Sailing information
Sailing Season: Mid-April to late October is the best time for sailing in the Dodecanese.
Climate: Mediterranean climate. The climate is typically warm and sunny from late April to mid-October. However, the water temperatures are still fresh until the end of May. The humidity is low, so that even very high temperatures in midsummer can be endured.
Wind: Dodecanese is Meltemi area from late June to mid-September. Sometimes 6-8 Beaufort is also possible for a longer period of time. But mostly it is 4-6 Beaufort. in spring and autumn the wind blows weaker, mostly from the south-east.
Getting to the Dodecanese
If you want to spend your sailing holiday in the Dodecanese, there are several ways to get there:
- Flight to Kos : the island of Kos has an international airport (3-letter code KGS ) and is served by several airports in United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and many other countries. The journey from the airport to the port of Kos takes approximately 35 minutes.
- Flight to Rhodes: the same applies to the international airport of the island of Rhodes (3-letter code RHO). During the season, it is served by several airports in United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and many other countries. Driving from Rhodes Airport to Rhodes Port takes approximately 30 minutes. There are daily ferries from Rhodes to Kos if you have chartered your boat in Kos.
